Volunteering for PIPS
We are always on the lookout for volunteers to join our team. They are a fundamental part of the makeup of the organisation and make it possible for us to carry out our life saving services.
- You can fit it around your schedule. As an event volunteer you can give as much or as little time that you have free. We ask careteam volunteers to be to commit to 4 hours per week, the same day and times.
- You can make a huge difference in someone’s life by simple giving some of your time. You are supporting some of the most vulnerable people in our community.
- You receive PIPS befriending training and are offered various training courses that become available within the charity.
- You will meet new people and become part of a team. There are various people involved in PIPS from clients, staff, volunteers and outside organisations.
How to get involved?
Simply contact the office and a volunteer application form can be emailed or posted to you. Return your completed form and we will get in contact with you to arrange a meeting.
Frequently asked questions
Why 4 hours per week for careteam?
This is asked to provide consistency for clients. They see the same person and be in on the same time and day each week.
What age can you volunteer?
Due to the nature of the work we carry out we ask that anyone wishing to volunteer be over the age of 18.
Will a criminal record check be carried out?
All staff and volunteers will be Access NI checked. As a volunteer the fees are payed by the charity.
Do I need any experience working with Mental Health issues?
Experience may help but we provide befriending training, so it is not essential.
Thank you to everyone who took part in our first virtual event, “Step into Spring.” During the month of March, we challenged participants to walk 10,000 steps every day.
Together you walked over 3000 miles together, covering the distance from Belfast to Barcelona. The total sum raised was £3,117, which will enable us to give an additional 160 life-saving counselling hours to those who need us the most — our clients. PIPS receives no funding from the government or statutory bodies, and we rely completely on the kind donations of the general public.
Thank you – together you are helping us in our mission of ‘Striving for a compassionate Society free from suicide.’
Our life-saving work wouldn’t be possible without the extraordinary generosity of the public and our corporate partners. Join TEAM PIPS to improve the lives of those who need us at their darkest moments, and you can help us “plant the seeds of hope” for everyone by creating your own fundraising page by clicking here.
Corporate partnerships with PIPS bring benefits to your business and your employees. A corporate partnership with us will support your organisation to realise your Corporate Social Responsibility goals, and by raising vital funds, you will play a significant role in helping us to make our community a place free from suicide.
If you would like to find out more about supporting us or becoming a corporate partner, call our Events & Fundraising team on 02890 805 850 or email email@example.com
Our work is only possible due to the unwavering commitment of our supporters and corporates which continue to work with us. To everyone involved, we cannot thank you enough for continuing this vital help in the most challenging of years. In additional to the donors named below, we would like to thank all our anonymous donors.
Every Little Counts
Before Covid-19 started affecting our daily lives there was already a mental health crisis in Northern Ireland. The pandemic has only made this more stark.
Since April 2020 PIPS have experienced a 500% increase in the need for life saving services offering direct support to people in need and we know there are still so many more people who are in need of support.
Losing a loved one to suicide is different to any other kind of bereavement, which means it can be very isolating and lonely.
There are so many ways to fundraise in memory of a loved one, from running marathons, to organising bake sales, and we’re here to support you every step of the way.
