PIPS Suicide Prevention Charity and Hope Café Join Forces to Bring Hope to Students and the Wider Community

Belfast, Northern Ireland — PIPS Suicide Prevention Charity and Hope Café have announced a new partnership aimed at raising awareness, support, and vital funds for mental health and suicide prevention across Northern Ireland.

Launching in November, the partnership will see Hope Café — along with its sister Clements Coffee shops at Queen’s University Belfast — host a series of fundraising and awareness initiatives in aid of PIPS Charity. The collaboration is designed to reach students and members of the local community, encouraging open conversations about mental health and reminding everyone that help and hope are always available.

Richard McKeever, Supervisor from Hope Café, shared:

“Here at Hope Café we understand the vital importance of looking after your mental health, and we are so excited and grateful to be able to connect PIPS Charity to our customer base here at Queen’s.

The constant pressures faced by students are rarely talked about — how between studying and work they might rarely have free time or days off — and how that can affect them as the academic year goes on. We see first-hand the impact it can have, and to have the opportunity to raise awareness and reach out to them is wonderful.

Across our four Clements Coffee shops at Queen’s everyone is thrilled to be a part of this. At a time when Northern Ireland as a whole is facing an ongoing mental health crisis, we hope to be a light to anyone passing by – we want to bring Hope to everyone who needs it.

In Hope, in Social, and in our two Clements Coffee shops, we’ll be kicking off fundraising efforts in November, and the teams are bursting with ideas of how to carry that into the new year and beyond. Some of us have been lucky enough to see first-hand how important PIPS Charity are, and we can’t imagine a more deserving cause.”

Lisa Abell-Farrelly, Fundraising Manager at PIPS Suicide Prevention Charity, said:

“We are delighted to partner with Hope Café and the Clements Coffee team at Queen’s. Their passion for community and mental wellbeing shines through everything they do.

Together, we can help more students and young people access life-saving support and spread the message that it’s okay to ask for help.

The funds raised through this partnership will directly support our suicide prevention services, counselling sessions, and crisis support across Northern Ireland. Every cup of coffee, every conversation, and every donation helps us continue this vital work.”

The partnership will feature ongoing fundraising events, in-store donation points, and awareness campaigns throughout the academic year and beyond. Both organisations hope the initiative will not only raise essential funds but also create a sense of connection and compassion across the Queen’s University community and beyond.
