PIPS Charity Receives £40,700 Following Former Mayor’s Year of Fundraising

PIPS Charity was delighted to attend a special cheque presentation at the Guildhall in Derry/Londonderry, where former Mayor Ruairí McHugh presented the charity with an incredible cheque for £40,700.

PIPS Charity was honoured to be selected as one of the Mayor’s two chosen charities during his 2025/26 term. Throughout his year in office, Ruairí hosted a wide variety of fundraising events and initiatives, including the Mayor’s Tea Dance, Mayor-Rox, the Mayor’s Foyle Challenge and many more.

These events brought people together from across the city and district while raising vital funds to support individuals and families affected by suicide, self-harm and emotional crisis.

Since opening its doors in Derry/Londonderry, PIPS Charity has built strong relationships throughout the local community and established a trusted network of support. From its offices based in the Playhouse, PIPS Charity provides free and confidential counselling to individuals and families who are struggling with suicide, self-harm or emotional crisis.

The generous donation of £40,700 will help PIPS Charity continue delivering vital, accessible support and ensure that individuals and families can receive compassionate support when they need it most.

PIPS Charity extends its sincere thanks to former Mayor Ruairí McHugh for choosing PIPS Charity as one of his charities during his term and for his dedication to raising awareness and vital funds.

PIPS Charity would also like to thank everyone involved in organising and supporting the fundraising events, as well as every individual, community group and organisation that attended, donated or contributed throughout the year.

This incredible support will make a meaningful difference and help PIPS Charity continue providing hope and vital services to individuals and families throughout Derry/Londonderry and the surrounding communities.
