UK and Ireland law firm Browne Jacobson has provided a grant to a Belfast suicide prevention charity that will help provide 50 counselling sessions for those in need of support.

Browne Jacobson Charitable Trust has donated £2,750 to Belfast-based PIPS Suicide Prevention Charity, which provides counselling and befriending support to individuals experiencing suicidal thoughts, mental ill health or emotional distress, as well as families, friends and those bereaved by suicide.

Browne Jacobson expanded into Northern Ireland earlier this year following a merger with Davidson McDonnell, with about 50 professionals joining from the Belfast firm.

As a charity that receives no government funding, every grant and donation plays a vital role in helping us continue delivering our free, confidential counselling and crisis support services to people across Northern Ireland who need them most.

This funding will directly support our counselling services, enabling more people experiencing suicidal thoughts, mental ill health or emotional distress to access timely, compassionate support without financial barriers. Early intervention can make a life-changing difference, and this contribution will help ensure we can continue being there for those who need us.

Browne Jacobson supports causes across health, education, youth support and social inclusion via its Browne Jacobson Charitable Trust, which donated £35,000 across its office network in the 2025/26 financial year, taking the total amount donated to £233,362 since November 2018.

The trust, which is funded by contributions from the firm’s partnership, provides donations to small local charities near its offices, prioritising causes that are important to employees.

Browne Jacobson also runs a community action group programme, in which each of its eight UK and Ireland offices partners with a local charity – chosen by staff vote – for at least two years, with the organisations benefitting from fundraising activities, volunteering and pro bono project work.

Tara Murphy, Associate in the matrimonial team based in Belfast, put forward PIPS to receive a donation from the trust.
